Unplug the washer and check the door lock assembly for damage or a loose wiring connection.

Fresh hold option is on. It would be a good idea to see if no debris has stuck in the door lock unit. Front loaders have a locking mechanism to avoid opening the door during a washing cycle but occasionally this lock will be activated accidentally. The washer will go into a hold and drain routine for 8 minutes.

Replace the door lock switch if defective. The washer door will unlock at the end of the drain. During this period you will be able to hear the pump running. The code goes on in case your washer cannot lock the door.

If the washer will not unlock at the end of a wash cycle unplug the washer or disconnect power. Gently pull the tab down about 1 4 inch or until a click is heard. When using one of these cycles the door will remain locked until the cancel button is pushed. Run a drain and spin cycle.

Reach up along the inside of the front and locate the bottom of the door switch lock mechanism. Without a model number i can t give you a specific answer but if you have a maytag mah style front load washer the door can be unlocked by pulling the release cord located in the dispenser area. Remove the lower access panel. While this option is on the fan blows and the load is tumbled periodically for up to 12 hours. You will have to remove the dispenser bezel trim to access the cord to pull it to open the locked door. Select drain spin to remove any water remaining in the washer.
